All-Stars meet at Roundball Shootout

It’s been seven years since the annual Clark County senior all-star high school basketball event had any state champions playing in the game.

And, coincidentally, the state champion all-stars will be playing in their home gym one more time.

Three Union Titans will be among the boys all-stars at today’s Les Schwab Tires Roundball Shootout at Union High School.

Garett Speyer will be on the Blue squad for the boys game, and he will go up against fellow Titan Chris Morgan, who will be on the White squad. The three were instrumental in Union’s Class 3A state championship.

Another Titan, Mitch Saylor, was selected to play but won’t because of a sore ankle he injured during last weekend’s state-title run.

Seven years ago, seniors from the Prairie girls state championship team played in this event.

Two other teams from Clark County reached the state tournament this past season.

Hockinson’s Mitch Tugaw and Cole Larson are also on the White team. The Hawks made it to the Class 2A state tournament.

Prairie’s Michelle Bolliger is the lone girl all-star who is coming off a state tournament appearance.

The girls game begins at 4 p.m., with the girls 3-point shooting contest at halftime.

After the girls game, there will be a dunk contest.

The boys game will follow, with the 3-point contest at halftime.

Cost is $5 for general admistion, $3 for students.
