Cardinals and Braves rained out

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) — The Braves’ game with the Cardinals was called off because of rain on Sunday in the second inning.

Scheduled starters Jair Jurrjens and Brad Penny were scratched because of the weather.

Jurrjens will work in a minor league game on Monday, a scheduled off day for the Braves.

Before the game, St. Louis optioned right-handed reliever Josh Kinney to Triple-A Memphis and sent non-roster pitchers Evan MacLane, Shelby Miller and Lance Lynn to minor league camp.

Atlanta sent left-handed reliever Mike Dunn and five other players to the minors. Dunn was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett along with right-hander Jeff Lyman.

Outfielders Mitch Jones and Brent Clevlen, left-hander Mariano Gomez and catcher Orlando Mercado were sent to minor league camp after being non-roster spring invitees.
