KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) — A blind man was injured and his guide dog was killed when they were hit while crossing a street in Kennewick.

The accident last week left Bernie Vinther with a black eye where he was hit by a side mirror. His lab-mix service dog “Kaber” went under the car. It died on the way to a vet.

KEPR reports police don’t believe the driver was at fault, but the city attorney will decide if he’ll face a charge.
