TURIN, Italy (AP) — Olympic champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir have topped training partners Meryl Davis and Charlie White again, winning the compulsory dance to take an early lead at the World Figure Skating Championships.
Virtue and Moir scored 44.13 points Tuesday, putting the Canadians 0.88 points ahead of Davis and White, the silver medalists at the Vancouver Olympics. Italy’s Federica Faiella and Massimo Scali were third with 40.85 points.
The original dance is Wednesday. The pairs short program is later in the day.
This could be the last time compulsory dance is part of the world championships. The International Skating Union is to vote in June on proposals that would eliminate the segment.
