A Vancouver motorcyclist remained in a hospital Wednesday evening, one day after a collision with a car in the 14000 block of Southeast Evergreen Highway, south of Cascade Park and state Highway 14.

James Kasper, 44, was listed in satisfactory condition at Southwest Washington Medical Center, a nursing supervisor said.

Shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday, Kasper was riding east when a westbound driver tried to make a left turn in front of him, said Officer Missy Ross with the Vancouver Police Department.

The car’s driver, 20-year-old Zachary Duquette of Vancouver, was not injured in the crash.

He was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way to the motorcycle and failing to have proof of insurance, Ross said.
