The Clark College club baseball team split a doubleheader with the Western Washington club team on Saturday in Bellingham.

Clark won the opener 2-0 behind the pitching of Brandon Brown, but dropped the second game 3-1.

Brown, a Union High grad, threw a five-hitter in the opener with six strikeouts and three walks.

Clark scored both its runs in the second inning. Camas grad Austin Osbourne scored opened with a single, stole second and eventually scored on a passed ball. Prairie grad Jackson Stellfox drove in Kyle Green, who had walked.

Clark twice got out of bases-loaded jams. Brown struck out the final two batters of the third inning with the bases loaded. In the fifth, the Penguins denied WWU with a pickoff at second base, a strikeout and a throw-out at home on a double steal attempt.

Camas grad Kyle Brumfield drove in the Penguins’ only run of the second game.

Clark (6-8) is scheduled to play two more games in Bellingham today.
