PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State Police say a 34-year-old Portland woman is in custody after a wild car chase.

The OSP says Recruit Trooper Naymon Frank tried to stop the woman’s 1986 Honda Sunday morning for several traffic violations in Portland, but she sped off, jumping a curb and striking a street sign. When Frank tried to pin her car in, she threw it in reverse, rammed his cruiser and took off again.

The Honda sped away again, running a red light, slamming into a Geo Metro and finally stopping when it hit a tree. Police Sgt. Daniel Smith says the woman jumped out of the car and started running, but Frank caught her.

The two people in the Metro were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The suspect was identified as Michele Scoggins. She was being held for investigation of many charges, including assault, drunken driving, attempting to elude, theft and drug possession.
