Woodland police officers are investigating the death of a Vancouver man who was found in a motel room Monday afternoon.

Police went to the Lewis River Inn, 1100 Lewis River Road, at about 1 p.m. after two women told motel employees that their brother was in the motel and had tried to kill himself.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies earlier had started an investigation of the missing man.

Officers found Michael O’Doherty, 46, dead in a motel room. O’Doherty appeared to have died several hours earlier, according to the Woodland Police Department report. Investigators said O’Doherty had been experiencing personal and medical issues. He was last seen Saturday evening at a relative’s house. He checked into the motel early Saturday morning.

Officers found a suicide note in the motel room. There are signs O’Doherty may have taken an overdose of prescription drugs; toxicology tests will be performed, police said.
