Garbonzo is an 8-year-old male blue and white domestic longhair. He came to us because his owners just had too many cats to care for. When he came in we found that he had a large abcess on his side that looked like it had been there for a long time. He was very patient while we cleaned his wound and treated it. It is healing very nicely. He has lived with kids, cats and other pets and got along great with everyone. He loves to play and will follow you around like a dog and talk to you.

Gladys is an 8-year-old terrier and maybe Lab mix who came in as a stray. She is sweet and shy at times; give her a little bit of time to warm up. She’s an older dog whose owners never came looking for her. Gladys would need to meet any kids or dogs she would be living with.

These pets are among those available for adoption from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington, 1100 N.E. 192nd Ave., Vancouver. Fees — which can include registered microchip, health exam, a spay or neuter certificate and vaccination — vary. Call 360-693-4746.
