Vancouver author John A. Harrison will discuss “The Mystery Woman of Bonneville Rock” at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Clark County Historical Museum, 1511 Main St.

As a reporter for The Columbian newspaper in the 1980s, Harrison’s beat included the Columbia River Gorge. Having read about Mona Bell in a biography of Sam Hill, he decided to look for the mansion that the railroad tycoon built for Bell in 1928. Harrison found its remains on an overgrown hill overlooking Bonneville Dam.

That launched Harrison on a search to find out more about Bell, her relationship with Hill, and what happened to her.

The presentation is part of the museum’s “First Thursday” schedule, offering free admission from 5 to 9 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month from February through November.
