INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Former college basketball player and current color commentator Len Elmore will become the new CEO of iHoops, Elmore has told The Associated Press.

Elmore takes over an organization formed by the NBA and the NCAA to improve basketball activities for America’s youth. Elmore has served on iHoops’ board of directors since the organization was formed in June 2009. He replaces Kevin Weiberg, who resigned in March to become chief operating officer of the Pac-10.

The official announcement is expected to come later Monday morning.

The program is intended to create a structure intended to improve the quality of youth basketball in America.
