MSU picks Stricklin as new AD

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Scott Stricklin has been promoted to athletic director at Mississippi State after spending the last two years as an associate athletic director.

School president Mark Keenum made the announcement Friday in Stkarville. Stricklin replaces Greg Byrne, who left to become athletic director at Arizona.

Stricklin, who turns 40 on Saturday, was hired in the summer of 2008 as the associate AD for external affairs, leading major fundraising efforts. He’s also worked in athletic departments at Kentucky, Baylor, Tulane and Auburn.

Stricklin is a 1992 graduate of Mississippi State.
