SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — San Jose Sharks coach Todd McLellan says his team needs to put a blowout loss in Game 4 behind them quickly before it snowballs into an even bigger problem.
The Sharks returned to the ice Friday for an optional skate a day after losing 7-1 to the Detroit Red Wings in Game 4 of their second-round series.
San Jose still leads the series 3-1 and can close it out with a win at home in Game 5 on Saturday night. Only two teams in NHL history have ever rallied back from a 3-0 deficit to win a series, with the New York Islanders doing it to Pittsburgh in 1975 and Toronto pulling off the feat against Detroit in 1942.
The Sharks watched tape of the Game 4 loss and blamed a lack of hard work and forechecking for the defeat.
