PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Claims that a Portland psychic scammed $150,000 from a man by telling him that she could get rid of “negative energy” has led to an investigation into a potential fraud conspiracy.
Portland police raided both the psychic shop and the residence of Cathy Stevens last January. But aggravated theft charges were dropped pending more investigation.
Since then, a police detective has identified three other victims.
The attorney for Stevens says she is the victim of religious persecution.
Her lawyer is now asking the city to return her financial records and other property — including Tarot cards.
