OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — National retailer Saks Fifth Avenue wants Olympia’s Salon Fifth Avenue to change its name.
The New York City based company says the longtime downtown Olympia business has a name that falsely implies the salon is affiliated with its retail company. The salon has also been told in a “cease-and-desist” letter that the retailer has an issue with its logo.
Saks Fifth Avenue doesn’t operate a store in Washington.
Salon operator Elaine McConkey says she thinks it’s ridiculous that such a large business is picking on such a small one.
Salon Fifth Avenue has been in downtown Olympia for about 30 years. It was on Fifth Avenue for years before moving to Capitol Way.
