BIRMINGHAM, England (AP) — Wolverhampton Wanderers have extended goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann’s contract by another year.
The World Cup-bound American had a clause in his agreement providing for the deal to be extended for a second season providing Wolves stayed in the Premier League and he made a certain number of appearances.
Hahnemann played 25 consecutive games last season after initially being signed as a backup goalkeeper to Wayne Hennessey. Wolves finished in 15th place, eight points above the relegation zone.
The 37-year-old from Seattle, a backup to Everton’s Tim Howard on the U.S. national team, said he is “really enjoying” playing for the club, and that his family have settled well in the area.
