SPANAWAY, Wash. (AP) — A Spanaway student is in the hospital after being stabbed in a fight at his school. Another student has been arrested.

The News Tribune of Tacoma is reporting an 18-year-old apparently was stabbed in the head, ear and neck at Liberty Junior High. He is in stable condition at a local hospital.

Students from Spanaway Lake High School are attending classes at the junior high while their school is being renovated.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the school about 10:55 a.m. because of a fight between two students near the band room. The Pierce County Sheriff’s department says deputies took the other student, also an 18-year-old, into custody.

No other students were injured.
