A woman who’s suspected of robbing two Vancouver banks — and man who allegedly accelerated a car away from police when he and the woman were spotted on Interstate 5 in Oregon — were arrested Friday afternoon near Salem.

Tammy Lynn Hall, 42, was taken to jail for a previously issued warrant charging she robbed a bank in Clackamas, Ore. on April 30; and for allegedly possessing heroin, according to a bulletin from the Oregon State Police.

The driver of the white 2005 Nissan Altima they were in, Shaun Parke Williams, 41, was jailed on suspicion of attempting to elude police, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person and possessing heroin, the bulletin said.

Both suspects were being held in the Marion County, Ore., Jail.

Earlier this week, on Thursday, the FBI in Portland had issued a bulletin that identified Hall as a suspect, saying she matched the description of robbers of First Independent Bank, 1408 S.E. 164th Ave., Vancouver, on May 3; US Bank, 6407 N.E. 117th Ave., Vancouver, on May 7; and Bank of the West, 11050 S.E. McLoughlin Blvd., Milwaukie, Ore., on May 10.

In each robbery, a woman entered the bank, demanded cash and then left. No weapon was seen during any of the heists.

Hall also had been indicted by a federal grand jury in the April 30 robbery of a Bank of America branch in Clackamas, Ore., the FBI said. Officials had announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to Hall’s arrest and conviction.

About noon Friday, police said, a man and woman robbed a Chase Bank branch in Eugene and police were told they’d escaped in the white Nissan, which had California license plates.

Later Friday afternoon, an OSP trooper spotted the Nissan headed north on I-5 from the Albany area. Troopers tried to pull it over but Williams sped away, topping out at 111 mph, the bulletin said.

Police said Williams avoided a spike strip Salem police tried to place in his path. But about two miles later he came to an area where troopers and Salem officers were waiting with more spike strips, the bulletin said.

Other motorists, seeing the police, had slowed and Williams pulled over on the left shoulder.

Blocking northbound traffic, officers confronted the pair at gunpoint and took them into custody.

Hall is believed to be from California; Williams last known address was Cottage Grove, Ore., the bulletin said.
