Insitu demonstrates unmanned craft for Army

BINGEN — Insitu Inc. announced Thursday that it successfully demonstrated its ScanEagle unmanned aircraft system this week at the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence in Fort Rucker, Ala.

It was the first demonstration of an unmanned aircraft system at the center in six years, the company said. Insitu’s ScanEagle is used by the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy and Australian Defense Force in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Insitu is an independent subsidiary of Boeing Co. that designs and manufactures unmanned aircraft. The company is headquartered in Bingen and employs 700 people in offices there and in White Salmon, Stevenson, Vancouver, The Dalles, Ore., and Hood River, Ore.
