The Washington State Department of Ecology named the city of Ridgefield as a recipient of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Outstanding Performance award for operations in 2009.

This is the fourth time in six years the city has received the award. Ridgefield was one of the 87 treatment plants that achieved full compliance with discharge permits in 2009. There are about 300 plants in the state.

The city recognized the efforts of the operations staff at the treatment plant and commended them for their work.

City Manager Justin Clary said the award serves as an illustration of the professional staff the city employs.
