MILWAUKIE, Ore. (AP) — A neighbor and firefighters combined to rescue a yellow Lab on Tuesday from a Milwaukie, Ore.-area house fire that killed another dog and two cats.

No people were home when the fire broke out. Clackamas Fire District 1 spokesman Steve McAdoo says a microwave apparently caught fire in the kitchen.

He says a neighbor ran into the house and brought out the Lab. When he tried to make another search, heavy smoke drove him back.

Firefighters used a special pet resuscitator to revive the dog, which was transported to a nearby vet clinic.
