Brian Hopper, co-founder and owner of Vancouver-based HDJ Design Group, has announced plans to retire on June 1 from full-time work with the civil engineering firm.

Hopper, 60, said he will continue on as a part-time principal of the company he founded in 1980 with partner Tom Dennis. The partners brought on a third partner, Greg Jellison, in 1999.

HDJ Design Group’s work portfolio includes numerous residential projects in Clark County and in the Tri-Cities area, along with notable road projects, such as the east leg of Padden Parkway. The company has also been involved in commercial projects such as the $28 million Hazel Dell Square and the 300-acre Union Ridge mixed-use development in Ridgefield.
