KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) — Klamath County voters have turned down a $15 million levy to keep the jail operating at full capacity the next five years.

The Herald and News reports about 59 percent voted no on Tuesday.

Sheriff Tim Evinger says they will have to start releasing some inmates by the end of the week. Jail capacity will be cut from 152 beds to 64. And 13 deputies will be laid off.
