SEATTLE (AP) — The National Weather Service says a strong May storm has swept across Washington, bringing high winds, thunderstorms and even a report of a barn-shifting tornado near Moses Lake.

National Weather Service meteorologist Steve Bodnar in Spokane says he spoke with a Moses Lake woman who reported a funnel cloud touched down Wednesday evening, damaging her horse barn. Grant County Emergency Management spokesman Kyle Foreman says the property owner says the barn was picked up, spun around in the air, then dropped about 30 feet from its original location. No injuries to people or livestock were reported.

Bodnar says the Weather Service can’t confirm it was a tornado without sending out a damage assessment team. But he notes that a line of thunderstorms pushed through Eastern Washington on Wednesday evening. In the Spokane area, winds with those storms gusted near 50 mph.
