WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) — U.S. Military Academy cadets say they’re undaunted in their desire to serve their country, despite President Barack Obama’s warning Saturday that they face a long, dangerous road.

Obama told 1,002 West Point graduates that he was humbled by the knowledge that many of them “will soon be serving in harm’s way.”

He noted that he visited West Point in December to outline his administration’s military policy in Afghanistan. Then he told cadets that many of them will be called upon to enact that strategy.

Almost all the graduating cadets became second lieutenants in the U.S. Army, and most expect to eventually serve in Afghanistan or Iraq.

The Class of 2010 entered West Point four years ago, well after the start of the military campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan.
