Federal Way tower project grows to 3 towers

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Plans for a 45-story condo and hotel tower in downtown Federal Way has transformed into plans for three towers.

Two of the towers would be 45 stories tall and the third would be 35 stories. Each tower would dwarf the current tallest building in Federal Way: the nine-story Courtyard by Marriott.

The tower complex would be constructed a few blocks northwest of the 2-acre site that was proposed in February for the Sky Hotel and Residences.

The developers, Twin Development LLC, say they are switching to the new site because they like it better. Seattle developer Steve Smith, a partner with Twin Development, says the new site is twice as large, with room to build more view units and still have a 1-acre park.
