AMSTERDAM (AP) — Organizers say world and Olympic 5,000 and 10,000-meter champion Kenenisa Bekele has pulled out of the Fanny Blankers-Koen Games because he has not fully recovered from a calf injury.

Meet coordinator Ellen van Langen said in a statement Monday that Bekele was still troubled by the injury despite undergoing intensive treatment, and will not compete anywhere in June.

Bekele had been scheduled to run in the 3,000 at Sunday’s meet in the eastern Dutch town of Hengelo.
