DENVER (AP) — The Colorado Rockies recalled catcher Chris Iannetta from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday and designated catcher Paul Phillips for assignment.

Iannetta was Colorado’s No. 1 catcher coming out of spring training but lost his starting job to Miguel Olivo after hitting .133 with two home runs and two RBIs in eight games. He was optioned to Colorado Springs on April 27 and he hit .349 with five home runs and 21 RBIs in 17 games for the Sky Sox.

Iannetta lost his starting job to Yorvit Torrealba during last year’s run to the playoffs but signed a three-year, $8.35 million in the offseason. He struggled early in the season, getting just four hits before being sent down.

Phillips hit .294 in six games for the Rockies.
