SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Despite two hours of public comment in favor of more police oversight, the Spokane City Council decided Monday to reschedule a vote on the matter to the June 21 meeting.
KXLY-TV reports the council had been expected to vote on an ordinance that would give the police ombudsman power to investigate reports of police misconduct and publish reports on the investigations.
Among those at City Hall were friends of Jason Poss who was shot to death by police in July of last year when he refused to drop a knife he was carrying.
