EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Being chosen to host the Super Bowl in 2014 may help the Giants and Jets finally get a new name for their $1.6 billion stadium.

Speaking at a news conference Wednesday, the owners of the teams say the selection of the stadium for the NFL championship game in roughly 312 years can’t hurt in finding a title sponsor for the 82,500-seat building.

Most experts believe the naming rights for the stadium should yield about $20 million annually for the teams to split.

Giants owner John Mara refused to speculate whether the price might go up with the Super Bowl coming to East Rutherford.

Until the naming rights are sold, the stadium will continue to be called the New Stadium at the Meadowlands. It was to officially open on Wednesday night with a Bon Jovi concert.
