Azinger will sit out Senior PGA because of flu

PARKER, Colo. (AP) — Paul Azinger has withdrawn from the Senior PGA Championship due to the flu.

This was going to be the first Senior PGA for the former U.S. Ryder Cup team captain.

Hal Sutton (hip) and Peter Jacobsen (illness) also won’t play in this weekend’s tournament at the Colorado Golf Club.

Other notable players who have withdrawn from the first senior major of the season include Jerry Pate (knees), Scott Hoch (wrist), Tom Pernice Jr. (playing in PGA Tour event), Craig Stadler (medical reasons) and Mark McCumber (back).
