SEASIDE, Ore. (AP) — The city of Seaside is testing and treating its drinking water in an effort to avoid last year’s problem with algae.
An unusually high algae growth occurred last summer when a bloom of glue-green algae broke out in the reservoir at Peterson Point.
The water was safe to drink, but the algae affected its taste and odor well into autumn.
To avoid a repeat, the city’s public works crew opted to begin treatments in April instead of waiting for the algae to bloom.
