EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — The Eugene School District is surveying students to learn the extent of harassment and bullying.

Students at the district’s four high schools and eight middle schools have either completed the survey or will do so in the coming weeks.

The district conducted a similar survey at one high school and three middle schools last spring. More than half the students who took that survey reported having been bullied or harassed at least once in the past year.

School psychologist Bruce Stiller will compile results from the larger survey this summer, and report back to the school board.

He’s working with the University of Oregon to develop a new anti-bullying curriculum. He expects it will be used in two district middle schools next fall.
