SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Jockey Randy Romero and 2001 horse of the year Point Given have been elected to the National Museum of Racing’s Hall of Fame.

Romero was the regular rider of Go for Wand and the undefeated Personal Ensign. He won Breeders’ Cup races on both. Romero won more than 4,000 races in a career that spanned 26 years.

Point Given finished fifth in the 2001 Kentucky Derby, and then won the final two legs of the Triple Crown, the Preakness and Belmont. He went on to capture the Haskell and Travers, becoming the first horse to win four straight races with $1 million purses. He was named horse of the year in 2001.

Also to be inducted August 13 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., will be horses Azeri and Best Pal and other inductees to be announced later.
