The district will offer a six-week summer literacy program in conjunction with the summer food service program. Activities include computer lab time, reading and writing skill development, reader’s theater, author’s tea and writer’s workshop activities.

Students will attend from noon to 2 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. The program will run June 28 through Aug. 5 and will have an alternate schedule the week of the Fourth of July holiday, operating July 6-9.

The program will be based at Hathaway Elementary School. All district students can apply. Space is limited, and the program will primarily serve students in grades kindergarten through third. Students will be selected by a lottery. If space is available, fourth- and fifth-graders may also apply.

The school district will also offer a summer lunch and snack program Mondays through Fridays from June 29 through August 13 at Hathaway Elementary. All children, ages 1-18, are welcome, regardless of where they attend school. Lunch is offered from 11 a.m. to noon. Snack is offered from 2 to 2:30 p.m.
