COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) — Conor Casey scored a second-half goal and the Colorado Rapids held on to defeat the low-scoring Seattle Sounders, 1-0 Saturday night.

Casey scored his fourth goal of the year for Colorado (5-3-1). His previous three goals came on penalty kicks.

The Rapids avoided being shut out for the fifth time this year, while goalkeeper Matt Pickens posted his third shutout of the season.

The Rapids, who outscored their opponents 25-10 while going 8-2-5 at home last season, are 2-1-1 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in 2010.

Seattle (3-5-3) was shut out for the fifth time this season. The Sounders have a Western Conference-low nine goals, one less than the Rapids.

A quad injury kept midfielder Osvaldo Alonso of the Sounders’ lineup.
