LONDON (AP) — Coast guards say that a group of teenage sailors from Poland have arrived safely in the U.K. after their tall ship was battered by a storm.

The Fryderyk Chopin lost both its masts when it was hit by gale-force winds about 100 miles (160 kilometers) southwest of the English coast on Friday. With the 182-foot (56-meter) -long vessel immobilized, nearby ships rushed in to tow it to safety.

The boat is a sail training vessel and its crew of 47 is mostly made up of 14-year-old sailors. The teens have spent an uncomfortable weekend at sea, but the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said Monday that the ship was now secured to a buoy in southwest England’s Falmouth harbor.

The agency says the teens are now being taken off the ship.
