TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — A Pierce County sheriff’s officer says a home invasion robbery near Puyallup ended with one masked intruder fatally shot.
Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer told The News Tribune that deputies were looking for a second man who fled after the 6:30 a.m. Wednesday attack.
The man and woman who live in the home say two masked men broke in, pistol-whipped the man and demanded the location of a safe and jewelry. The spokesman says the woman grabbed a shotgun from under the bed and gave it to her boyfriend, who exchanged gunfire with one robber.
One intruder collapsed and died in the driveway. An autopsy determined he was not killed by a shotgun. Deputies think the intruder was accidentally shot by his partner.
