KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) — A 25-year-old Kennewick woman has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a pregnant Pasco mom and cutting her baby out of her womb.
Life in prison was the only sentencing option for the aggravated first-degree murder conviction because Prosecutor Andy Miller wasn’t seeking the death penalty in the case against Phiengchai Sisouvanh Synhavong.
The Tri-City Herald reports Judge Robert Swisher handed down the life sentence on Wednesday.
Sisouvanh Synhavong was found guilty last month by a jury that quickly rejected her insanity defense claim in the June 2008 death of 27-year-old Araceli Camacho Gomez.
The baby survived and is being raised by his father.
