Walker leads UConn over AIC

STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Kemba Walker scored 25 points to lead four double-figure scorers as Connecticut rolled to a 96-58 exhibition victory over American International College on Wednesday night.

Walker sparked a 26-9 run to start the second half as the Huskies broke away from the Division II Yellow Jackets, who had sliced a 23-point defici5t to 44-33 at halftime.

The Huskies, who at times had five freshmen on the court, got 12 points from Charles Okwandu and 11 each from Alex Oriakhi and Shabazz Napier.

Allen Aragbaye led AIC with 21 points.

Although barely outrebounding AIC 39-35, UConn took charge from the outset of the second half with two baskets from Walker and a 3-pointer from Napier. With 9:25 remaining in the game, the Huskies lead swelled to 70-45.

UConn’s final exhibition game is Sunday in Hartford against Division II Bridgeport.
