DENVER (AP) — Backup Cory Schneider stopped 33 shots, Ryan Kesler scored the first of three power-play goals and the Vancouver Canucks won their fifth straight, beating Colorado 3-1 Thursday night.

Henrik Sedin and Raffi Torres also scored on the power play for the Canucks, while Daniel Sedin added two assists.

David Van Der Gulik scored his first NHL goal late in the game, spoiling Schneider’s bid for his first career shutout.

The Canucks gave starter Roberto Luongo the night off, starting Schneider for the first time in nearly two weeks. Schneider hardly looked rusty, shutting down the top-scoring team in the league to move to 3-0 this season.

Colorado came in averaging 3.5 goals a game, but couldn’t generate many scoring chances on the Canucks.
