LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Top jockey Garrett Gomez has been released from the hospital following a spill at Churchill Downs.

Gomez was riding Indy Bouquet on the turf course in Thursday’s sixth race when the 3-year-old filly fell and appeared to roll over him. Indy Bouquet, owned by WinStar Farm, was put down.

Gomez complained of pain in his right shoulder and spent a brief visit at Audubon Hospital. He is expected to ride eight horses during the Breeders’ Cup starting Friday at Churchill Downs.

Among his mounts is Blame, who will take on unbeaten Zenyatta in the $5 million Classic on Saturday.
