SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A Kettle Falls man has been sentenced for stealing Indian artifacts from the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area.

Sandie R. McNeil, 45, was sentenced in federal court to three years probation and ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and an additional $2,000 in restitution. The judge also ordered McNeil to serve 30 days home detention and banned him from the recreation area for three years.

According to court documents, McNeil took the artifacts between June 2004 and April 2005. A search of his home found numerous protected archaeological objects, including projectile points, stone weights and tools, stone flakes, and a gun cartridge and gun flint.
