PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — A government official says at least 50 people have died in a suicide bombing at a mosque in northwest Pakistan.

Local official Shahid Ullah says at least 80 others were wounded.

The bomber may have been targeting an anti-Taliban activist when he attacked the Sunni mosque in Darra Adam Khel during Friday prayers.

The blast was the latest in a series of attacks to hit mosques and Sufi shrines in Pakistan, and underscored the relentless security challenge to a nation where Islamist militants have long run rampant.
