ARTIC, Wash. (AP) — Grays Harbor officials say a woman who allegedly has spent years on the run with her twin 14-year-old daughters has been arrested and the girls found safe after the twins fled and hid overnight.

The Daily World reports that 49-year-old Sharie Ramsey has been charged with two counts of first-degree custodial interference for disappearing with her two daughters in violation of a court order.

Court papers say a deputy contacted Ramsey Thursday at a house in the small town of Artic south of Aberdeen. As he waited for her to turn over the girls, they apparently escaped out an upstairs window. They hid overnight before being spotted trying to hitch a ride along Highway 101 Friday morning. They were taken into protective custody.
