PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Police say an 18-year-old Canby man was driving under the influence when he crashed his 1994 Jeep Cherokee head-on with another vehicle, sending the driver of that car to the hospital.

The Marion County Sheriff’s office says Ian L. Beyers has been charged with driving while under the influence and reckless driving.

The 23-year-old Newburg woman in the car Beyers hit was airlifted to a Portland hospital. Her condition wasn’t immediately known.

Beyers and a passenger were uninjured.
