Clark County will host an open house for people to look at three proposals for reducing congestion, improving safety and supporting economic development on Northeast 179th Street from Northeast Delfel Road to 15th Avenue.

The open house will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds.

People can examine proposals and discuss the project with county staff and representatives from DKS Associates, according to a news release from Clark County Public Works.

The proposals are:

• Realigning intersections to reduce traffic backups.

• Adding a “jug handle” on-ramp to Interstate 5 south for vehicles traveling west on Northeast 179th Street.

• Building two-lane roundabouts on the on- and off-ramps on both sides of I-5.

Each alternative also would realign Northeast Delfel Road, west of I-5, with the signalized intersection at Northeast 10th Avenue and tie into another lane on I-5 southbound that will be built as part of the Salmon Creek Interchange Project.

Construction is expected to begin in 2014.
