November to stay soggy for a few days

Weary of the weather this November?

Buck up, there’s plenty more where that came from.

Just ask Chris Collins, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Portland.

Get caught in the Saturday night deluge? Collins said we had about 0.7 of an inch of rain over the weekend at Pearson Field in Vancouver.

And guess what?

“We’ve got a wet system coming in and we’ll probably get about a half an inch on Tuesday in the metro area,” Collins said. ”The system is coming in out of the Gulf of Alaska.

“This is pretty typical for November,” he added.

How about a little good news?

“It looks like it dries out on Wednesday, with high pressure building over the area,” he said.

And the catch?

“Thursday evening, another system rolls through. It doesn’t look that wet, though.”

Got your skis out?

If you are dreaming of snow, Collins said, “Timberline (ski area) will get snow from the system on Tuesday. I would guess they would get a decent amount of snow.”

But some of the October snow took a hit at Government Camp, Ore., when temperatures hit 60 on Friday and 50 on Saturday, Collins said.

Today’s Clark County weather calls for showers, with the high at 48 degrees and the low at 42, Collins said. The Columbian’s AccuWeather service has it at 53 and 38 for the high and low.

And the weekend ahead?

“If things set up right, we might get a nice weekend.,” Collins predicted. “That’s what it’s looking like.”

And if you want a change of pace, give Joseph, Ore., a try. That eastern Oregon town had the Northwest’s high on Sunday with 63. On the other hand, it had the region’s low at 34.
