LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Society Selection, a 9-year-old mare in foal to Medaglia d’Oro, brought $1.85 million Monday to top the opening session of Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale.
Coolmore Stud purchased the mare and paid $1.4 million for Golden Ballet, dam of 2010 Belmont winner Drosselmeyer, the second highest price of the day. Both are multiple Grade I stakes winners.
Society Selection, consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency as part of the Irving Cowan Dispersal, had six wins and earnings of $1,984,200 during her racing career.
Golden Ballet was sold in foal to Unbridled’s Song and consigned by Taylor Made as agent for Aaron and Marie Jones.
