It’s signing day for many athletes who will be playing in college.

Sorry, football, track and field, cross country, and soccer players must wait until February. But for others, today is the first day to sign.

Columbia River swimmer Jessica Bottelberghe is expected to sign with Boise State.

In basketball, Camas’ Melissa Williams said she will be signing with Eastern Washington. There, she will compete against Evergreen’s Justine Joudrey, who is expected to sign with Idaho State.

In baseball, Evergreen pitcher Tommy Thorpe is expected to sign with Oregon. We have confirmed that Skyview’s Kody Watts is expected to sign with the University of Portland. Union’s Caleb Whalen also might be a Pilot, but that was not confirmed Tuesday night.

Later this week, Woodland softball ace Emily Holt is expected to sign with Nebraska.

The Columbian will publish any athlete going to a four-year school when we learn of such decisions. Athletic directors and coaches are asked to contact us via e-mail at sports@columbian.com if you have athletes who have made decisions and/or signed.

Haley Holboke of Mountain View plans on playing women’s basketball at Corban University, an NAIA school in Salem.
